The Game of Tag Map

The playground game of tag, which involves one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to touch them, has a number of different names. The Usvsth3m Tag Map of the UK is an attempt to map the geographical variations in the game's name throughout the UK.

The resulting Google Map shows some interesting variations. In the north of the UK and in Scotland 'tiggy' is popular with children, whilst in the south children seem to stick with the name 'tag', except in London, where the game is more usually called 'had, 'he' or 'hit.

Usvsth3m questioned 986 people in their research for the map. You can view the data from their research here.
